Week 11 & Week 12

Two week mashed into one blog post. Anyone else feeling tired and super busy with this christmas season. I work part time and I have been working more than normally. It seems to put a hold on blogging.
The last two weeks have been a little more sporadic then structured and I am looking forward to a bit of a christmas holiday.
Our little bear puppet poem that we learnt.

Putting a show on for us.

We have been learning about the arctic and the animals in arctic. We have watched polar bear video's on animal plant and discovery (two really great video sites) as well as read lots of library book on Arctic animals. We learnt what polar bears eat, how they stay warm, about their paws and blubber and skin.
Our "BLUBBER" experiment.
Snowman crafts
Igloos

Writing his letter to santa.

We took a day and traveled to Salmon Arm and visited jungle mania. It was 2.5 hours of fun!

Rhyming game

We made our own story by using pictures, we came up
with some really funny ones.
It was a great imagination builder.

Our Hibernating Bears Dens.

My little bears!
We acted like bears, we hibernated while it was winter and
came out and ate while it was spring and summer.

So cute, they did such a good job!

In Math, we have been working on patterns, memory games. The kids made their own treasure maps and we went on treasure hunts while using directions.

We also have been working a bit more on our family, I received a kit from our support library thru our school on our families, neighbourhood, community.
We drew our family then made our very first poem about our family.

This was an accident that we happen to come across while out shopping this weekend. Everyone was ok, but there was significant damage to the vehicles. We observed as the ambulance, fire truck and police cars showed up. We watched and talked about all the different people that come to a accident and all the different jobs each of them have. It was great to have our past experience of the fire fighters to talk about. He knows why the firemen come, why the paramedics come and even why the police take photos. It was a great learning experience.

Next week is my last week of school for this year, we are taking a break to just focus on christmas, baking cookies, decorating gingerbread house, building snowmen, and visiting with family.
CHEERS!
