Corn Mazes, Bee Hives, and Fire Drills... Week 4

We started the week off great, we went out to Tranquille Fresh Farms were we meet a bee keeper and his bees. The Bee Keeper showed us his bee hives and educated us on how he extracts the honey comb from the hives without being stung.  The Keeper explained about the queen bee and what her job is and what all the other bees jobs are too. He showed everyone the centrifuge where the honey is spun at a really fast speeds to draw it out and then put in to a container to dispense. The Keeper gave each child a piece of honey comb to try..they chewed it and tasted the honey left in it..... this was sticky, gooey, kind of like carmel sticking to your teeth.
The kids were able to fill a jar of honey and purchase if they wanted. We brought his jar home to enjoy as it is raw pure honey and to reminded us each time we have some honey that we know where it cames from.
The hives with an electric fence around them to keep the hungry bears away from them :)
Our Jar!! That's a lot of honey!

At the Farms, we were also able to participate in a Corn maze, we read a map while doing our maze trying to navigate thru 5 acres of corn!

LOTS OF FUN, AND CORN...MAN THAT IS A LOT OF CORN!!!

Just loved this picture so I had to add it.

To Be Cont....
